It's not just a lucky trick of fate that makes some people more successful with their businesses than others. A majority of entrepreneurs make no secret of the fact that they read self-improvement books and attend seminars. That is something that also distinguishes the very successful from others - they actively work to improve their minds and thinking habits. Sometimes we feel blocked and can't seem to make any progress forward. When this happens, step back and consider an alternate approach. A good approach that we suggest is to listen to your "self-talk" regarding what being in business means to you. How do you truly feel about your chances for success? Give yourself time to seriously analyze your business actions, if possible, and then write down your objective conclusions. If you examine these thought patterns, you might just find the solution to your lack of forward progress in your business was there all along.
People from all walks of life - business people or otherwise - have experienced procrastination at one time or another in their lives. Fear seems to be at the root of most procrastination. Fear of success, fear of failure, fear of making a mistake, fear of looking like an idiot - the list goes on and on. In reality you can also find other examples of reasons why people procrastinate. A case in point is when you have taken on a task that you feel is your responsibility, but really isn't, so you just might have a problem getting it finished.
Do you seem to have chronic procrastination when it comes to certain tasks? If that's the case, it's a good idea to just back off. You need to carefully analyze your feelings in regards to whatever situation you are stalled on. It probably won't become clear quickly - it may take some time - but keep searching until you find the reason behind your feelings. Do you ever experience anxiety with others whom you have hired to work for you? If you are at the point where your business growth is suffering, then that constitutes a problem. Do you have a hard time with trust issues in general life? If you do, then that is a clear sign that this needs to be worked on. If this brings you stress, then take smaller bites of the problem so it is more manageable. You could just work on the origin of the mistrust, or you can face it with small outsource tasks so you can face it and work to improve. The more you face this and work with it, the more likely you are to overcome it.
So many interferences with success are often found to be doing the same thing in your personal life, as well. One such behavior is being overly self-critical. Just as another example, take a look at authors and other kinds of writing. Do not be surprised that the need to execute everything without mistake is often seen here, too. We are not psychologists, but it does seem that excessive self-criticism is a learned behavior and, obviously, from influential adults in early life. One of the keys to effectively dealing with this is awareness that you do it. You will simply need to begin encouraging that voice inside to become more quiet. Make no mistake, though, that you have to allow for change to take place which will mean you must be patient with your self. All people on this earth can make their lives better through self improvement, but very few stick with it if they begin. You can find all kinds of helpful information on just about any topic, and remember it takes dedication.
